This pool and garden were designed as a practical space for family play and entertaining, while setting the material palette for the future house renovation – natural, classic, and light-hued.
The pool’s irregular shape ‘squares’ up the garden’s angled boundary line and maximises space while a generous swim-out adds resort style. With its painted open-rafted ceiling and stone wall, the inviting poolside pavilion echoes Hamptons and old-world farmhouse style. The wall was intentionally stopped short of the ceiling to allow additional air flow and to soften the space with views of the Lilly Pilly hedge behind. A ‘return’ at one end accommodates an outdoor shower and hides pool storage.
Limestone tiles connect the pool area to the back deck and garden bed, bordered by a concrete bench. Angled to continue the pool’s design, the garden features plants that create visual interest via a variety of textures, hues, heights and depth.
