Landscape Design Sydney

Seamlessly connecting your indoor and outdoor spaces

The Fifth Season Landscapes team has a holistic approach to landscape architecture and design. We believe that to succeed, a garden must relate and respond to its surrounding landscape, the shared buildings and reflect the needs of its owners.

Meticulous attention to detail in every aspect of planting, layout and structural elements is crucial in landscape garden design. Our planting schemes are thoughtfully crafted to harmonise with the local environment, architectural style and the specific needs of our clients. This meticulous process involves selecting high-quality materials, ensuring that each element contributes to a landscape that is not only functional and durable but also timeless in its beauty.

A team recognised for excellence

Our team of experienced landscape designers have been producing the highest quality gardens, outdoor pavilions, entertaining spaces, swimming pools and outdoor living spaces throughout Sydney for over two decades.

Innovative design and planning by our professional team of landscape architects and designers ensures sophistication in design and a premium finish in construction, whilst respecting the natural surrounds of each of our projects at all times. We take great pride in designing landscape solutions that will suit both your life and style for now and many seasons to come.

Pool and garden renovation

The design for the new pool and landscape on Sydney’s Lower North Shore was driven by the need to enhance usability and storage while simplifying maintenance. The existing curved pool was reconfigured to maximize both the functionality of the pool area and available storage for pool equipment and toys. The new design optimizes the pool’s layout, ensuring it fits seamlessly into the surrounding space and is more accessible.

The landscaping incorporates a carefully chosen selection of low-maintenance plants, in line with the classic coastal planting scheme. This choice allows the clients to enjoy a beautiful outdoor setting without the burden of high-maintenance gardening tasks.

Shade structure with an outdoor kitchen

This outdoor kitchen and shade structure on Sydney’s Northern Beaches were designed to transform the client’s outdoor area into a functional and stylish living space perfect for entertaining family and friends. The focal point of the design is the sleek concrete BBQ bench, which offers a seamless, contemporary finish. This bench not only houses the built-in BBQ but also serves as a convenient and spacious servery, making it ideal for serving meals and snacks during gatherings.

The custom steel shade structure adds a touch of sophistication, providing both protection from the elements and visual intrigue. Featuring hardwood battens, the structure offers a perfect balance of modern design and natural warmth.

Design Consultation

Fee Information: $250 +GST

This stage will involve a site visit to discuss ideas and options for your garden design, including swimming pool or spa, outdoor entertaining and/or cooking areas, planting styles, preliminary finishes, connection to existing spaces and internal living etc. We will also talk through your budget for the project and the best way to manage this through design and construction.

After the initial site visit you will be supplied with a design fee proposal. The design fee proposal will consist of a design brief developed from discussions during the consultation.

STAGE 1
– Design Concept

Following acceptance of the design fee proposal we will then begin work on the concept design package which includes the items listed below. During this process we will look to address all items within the brief, along with any other specific requests, in order to ensure the final concept meets both design brief and budget. We will also determine whether the project requires any approvals, and if so what type of approval (eg. CDC or DA).

STAGE 2
– Design Development + Detailing

Design development and detailing involves the preparation of construction drawings to refine the concept plan and detail finishes for the project. This stage includes drawings and specifications for the key construction elements along with the specification of all material selections and a meeting to review and approve all of these items to finalise the construction estimate.

STAGE 3
– Approval Drawings

This stage will come about if the development requires approval through either council (Development Application) or a private certifier (Complying Development Consent). In the case of a DA we will need to design your landscape area in accordance with the local councils DCP, we will also be required to supply extra drawings and documentation to support the DA submission. A CDC requires the landscape design to strictly comply with the state legislated Complying Development code, and a number of detailed drawings and documents will need to be prepared in order to clearly explain this to the private certifier engaged to approve the works. As part of this stage we may need to engage other professionals depending on the elements of the design and the council requirements for your area.

Initial site consultation will cost $250+GST. During this meeting we will discuss a design fee proposal – including a detailed design brief and the associated costs involved with the concept stage. We will also provide you with information relating to the costs of the remaining stages of the design project, which are dependant on the scale, complexity and required approvals involved in completing your landscape design.

Yes. Fifth Season are Licensed Structural Landscapers and Pool builders, with an in-house construction team who manage a hand picked group of specialist trades. All sub-contractors understand the importance and quality of our work ethics, resulting in high levels of attention to detail.

  • Landscape Designers take into account a variety of structures and elements when designing outdoor spaces, from the front gate to the back fence.
  • We carefully consider how internal spaces connect to the exterior, as this influences both the design and how you use those spaces.
  • We think about the welcoming atmosphere you want to create at your home’s entrance for guests.
  • Existing trees and their placement are also important, as they may impact the new design, this especially relates to pools.
  • We will assess the best location for planting a garden that will flourish throughout the year.
  • Additionally, we consider the flow of movement through your landscape, ensuring that each area provides enough space for people to feel comfortable and at ease.

“I couldn’t recommend Phil, Jack, Levi, and the team at Fifth Season more highly. They have delivered two significant projects at our house. One was redesigning the properties entire garden, and secondly putting in a pool and shade structure over our courtyard. Both jobs have totally transformed our home. From Fifth Season’s consultative and creative approach throughout the design phase, to how they managed the job onsite, they are a pleasure to deal with. If you’re looking for a leading landscape design firm in Sydney for your next project, then certainly give Fifth Season a call.”
